The Elder Scrolls Online begins when you are sacrificed by Mannimarco’s Worm Cult, killed, and sent to Coldharbour where the Daedric Prince Molag Bal is harvesting souls to fuel the Planemeld—a catastrophic merging of his realm with Tamriel. You are rescued by the Prophet and Lyris Titanborn, escaping to Tamriel where you must reunite the Five Companions—the Prophet, Lyris, Abnur Tharn, Sai Sahan, and Vanus Galerion—who were betrayed by their former member Mannimarco. Your quest involves rescuing each companion from Coldharbour, recovering the Amulet of Kings from Sancre Tor, and ultimately invading Molag Bal’s realm to stop the Planemeld. In the climactic battle, one companion must be sacrificed to empower you with the blessing of Akatosh, allowing you to defeat Molag Bal, reclaim your soul, and save Tamriel.
