Mass Effect Legendary Edition bundles Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 along with over 40 pieces of single-player DLC, following Commander Shepard’s mission to save the galaxy from the Reapers—ancient synthetic-organic machines that return every 50,000 years to exterminate all advanced civilizations. In the first game, Shepard discovers the Reaper threat through Prothean beacons and battles the rogue Spectre agent Saren who serves the Reaper vanguard Sovereign. Mass Effect 2 sees Shepard killed and resurrected by the pro-human organization Cerberus to stop the Collectors—Reaper agents abducting human colonies—by recruiting a diverse team for a suicide mission through the Omega-4 Relay. Mass Effect 3 concludes the trilogy as the Reapers invade in force, requiring Shepard to unite krogan, turians, quarians, geth, and other species into a massive alliance while resolving long-standing conflicts like the krogan genophage and the geth-quarian war to build the Crucible superweapon.
