ELDEN RING

Elden Ring takes place after the mysterious shattering of the Elden Ring—a cosmic artifact governing reality—which triggered a devastating war between Queen Marika’s demigod children who each claimed fragments called Great Runes. Long ago, Marika was chosen by the Greater Will (an unknowable god obsessed with order) to become the vessel of the Elden Ring, establishing the Golden Order by removing the Rune of Destined Death to grant immortality. After the Night of the Black Knives assassinated her son Godwyn the Golden, someone shattered the Elden Ring, corrupting the demigods with power and causing them to wage the endless Shattering war. With no victor arising, the Greater Will calls upon the Tarnished—exiled warriors who lost their grace—to return to the Lands Between, defeat the demigods, repair the Elden Ring, and become the next Elden Lord.
