Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter World takes place as the Fifth Fleet arrives in the New World to support the Research Commission’s investigation into the Elder Crossing, a phenomenon where powerful Elder Dragons migrate to the continent every decade. The hunter’s first mission is to track and capture Zorah Magdaros, a mountain-sized Elder Dragon whose migration path threatens the ecosystem, but the capture fails when Nergigante—a spiked Elder Dragon that feeds on other Elder Dragons—interferes to protect its future meal. After discovering that Zorah Magdaros is dying and heading to the Rotten Vale (a massive monster graveyard), the Commission learns the dragon has instead entered the Everstream, a network of bioenergy that sustains the New World’s ecosystems. The hunter must divert Zorah Magdaros to the ocean before its death releases enough bioenergy to destroy the continent, while ultimately discovering that a newborn Elder Dragon called Xeno’jiiva was calling Elder Dragons to the New World all along.
