Destiny 2 is a free-to-play online multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Bungie, serving as the sequel to Destiny and continuing the epic Light and Darkness saga. Players take on the role of a Guardian—an undead warrior resurrected by a robotic companion called a Ghost, wielding the supernatural power of Light granted by the Traveler to defend humanity’s Last City from various alien races and the existential threat of the Darkness. The base campaign, known as the Red War, begins when Dominus Ghaul and his Red Legion launch a devastating assault on the Last City, destroying the Tower and stripping all Guardians of their Light by caging the Traveler. Players must journey across the solar system to mysterious and unexplored worlds, rallying legendary heroes and rediscovering their lost powers to mount a counterattack against the Red Legion. The game follows a looter-shooter loop where you complete story missions, strikes, raids, and PvP matches to earn increasingly powerful weapons and armor with varying rarities from common to exotic, allowing you to tackle harder content and raise your power level. Beyond the base story, Destiny 2 has evolved through numerous expansions including Forsaken, Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, Lightfall, and The Final Shape, each adding new destinations, storylines involving powerful entities like Hive gods and the Witness, new subclasses including Darkness powers like Stasis, and endgame activities that can be enjoyed solo or in fireteams of up to six players.
