Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set in 14 BBY, five years after the fall of the Republic and the Great Jedi Purge, following Cal Kestis, a former Padawan who survived Order 66 and now works as a scrapper on the planet Bracca. When an accident forces Cal to use his Force powers to save his friend Prauf from falling to his death, an Imperial probe captures the moment and alerts the Empire, dispatching two Inquisitors—the Second Sister and the Ninth Sister—to hunt him down. After the Second Sister kills Prauf and nearly captures Cal, he is rescued by Cere Junda, a former Jedi Master, and Greez Dritus, a pilot, who recruit him for a mission to find a Holocron hidden by Jedi Master Eno Cordova containing a list of Force-sensitive children who could become the next generation of Jedi. Cal’s journey takes him across multiple planets including Kashyyyk where he helps Wookiees fight the Empire, Zeffo where he explores ancient temples and recovers Zeffo artifacts, and Dathomir where he encounters the Nightsister Merrin and a fallen Jedi named Taron Malicos. Along the way, Cal must confront traumatic memories of his master Jaro Tapal’s death during Order 66, rebuild his broken lightsaber on Ilum after destroying it in frustration, and discover that the Second Sister is actually Trilla Suduri—Cere’s former Padawan who was tortured and turned to the dark side after Cere betrayed her location to the Empire. After recovering the Holocron from Bogano and infiltrating the Fortress Inquisitorius, Cal defeats Trilla and reclaims the artifact, but before Cere can redeem her, Darth Vader suddenly appears and murders Trilla for her failure. Cal and Cere barely escape from Vader with help from Merrin, and back aboard the Mantis, Cal realizes that gathering the children would only make them easier targets for the Empire, so he destroys the Holocron and decides to let the Force guide their fates.
